Versailles

On Thursday we left early for Versailles. We were finally on local time so hoped to beat the crowds.

However, the crowds could not be beat. So we joined them and toured the main palace.

The palace walk proved to be a little too much for Julie...

...so we took a tram to go see where Marie Antoinette lived – her "hamlet." Basically, a Disneyland-like recreation of a small French village. Impossibly quaint.

(...Julie felt incredibly loved...pink-nosed again... is it the baby-bump hormones?)

A truly relaxing last day of our trip.

The bathrooms had incredibly long lines in Versailles, so we headed to the local McDonalds and then grabbed a train back to Paris.

Our family trip is always action packed... so after Versailles we headed straight for the D'Orsay museum. Luckily, it was open late on Thursdays so we were able to enjoy a less-crowded Rick Steves-based tour (Eric brought the tour book with us and was the tour guide for Julie). Enjoyed conservative through impressionist paintings right up until they closed the museum.

Knowing Van Gogh would put a bullet through his brain a few months later made the blue windows especially creepy.

After some wandering, we made our last outing to the Eiffel tower, grabbed some Gyros and headed home. A full day!
