A Wii Thanksgiving

The Wii video game system definitely brought a revolution to the video games industry. Being part of the X generation, we grew up with video games. The name Nintendo even brings a sense of nostalgia. Although Nintendo's performance was mediocre during the 90's, their new game system Wii sure captured the attention of the young and the young at heart.Thanks Louis, we got to play Wii music. It was fun to see everyone watching their own character intently while trying to conduct at the same tempo to get the orchestra to perform.

Eric got to put up his feet and relax while waiting for the holiday ham to be ready.

Since the Orleans were going to Colorado Springs for Christmas, SF Santa brought some early Christmas present for the Orleans to take with them.

After the Thanksgiving feast, it was also time for us to bring out our Christmas tree. Our small Christmas tree last year from Trader Joe's didn't quite make it during 2008... so here's our Christmas tree this year.

Putting an Asian spin on Thanksgiving, the gang decided to have a pre-thanksgiving hot pot night at the Lo's this year. Besides having Sally and Coco for entertainment,

Eric and Andy also put on a small fire works for us ( by accident).

Luckily no damage was made to the Lo's beautiful dinning table. Besides good hot pot, we also had chocolate dipped strawberry and beignets from Cafe Du Monde.

This all started with a conversation Julie had with Shirley. Since Julie often hears things, when Shirley said " you know, I was stinking (thinking)..." Julie just can't stop laughing.

Ever since then, when anyone says " I was stinking (thinking)"... it is hard for Julie to keep a striaght face.


Eric says Julie is easily entertianed ^_^

PaPa Yang's Ninja Golf Bag

While visiting LA (back in Sept), PaPa Yang found one of his old golf club set. Since neither Julie nor Peter plays golf, PaPa Yang decided to take it back to Taiwan. The golf clubs are so old that the driver heads were made out of wood.

After the decision of carrying the golf club set was made, the discussion of how to carry it home began. Usually, PaPa Yang would use one of his handy golf club travel bag for this... but he didn't have one this time and things got creative.

First, MaMa Yang found a tarp and PaPa Yang found some boy scout ropes... Eric used his cub scout skills and out comes...Mr. Body bag??

Will if you give him a set of eyes, he actually looks more like a ninja.

After looking Mr. Ninja over, PaPa Yang decided to have Julie take him to the golf store to get a travel bag... He just didn't want to unwrap Mr. Ninja at the airport in case TSA thinks that it is actually Mr. Body bag.

A Bumpy Wedding

Hee...Hee... got a little distracted...

The main attraction at the wedding was actually Susan and Gilbert ^_^

Congratulations to Susan and Gilbert on their wedding ^_^ Susan looked stunning today. Her dress was so pretty and her "comfy" white shoes under her wedding dress was a nice touch~_~

Besides getting to celebrate Susan and Gilbert's big day, the wedding also turned into a mini-opto reunion. Thuy is only 2 months away (even though she looks like she is ready any day now) and Han has ~ 4 more months to go. This really made Julie realize mothers' sacrifice for their children (think about all the morning sickness, stretch marks... my future kids better be SUPER nice to me -_-)

3 ply Vs. 6 ply

After picking up our ginormous batch of toilet paper from Costco, Julie pointed out to Eric that the new toilet papers are now 3 ply instead of 2 ply (same price, more paper). Being the economist, Eric said " that means we can use less squares of toilet paper each time! and if they ever make it 6 ply, then we will only need to use 1 square each time ^_^".

Hummm... 1 square... the surface area doesn't seem sufficient for the job -_-

Kara's VS. Sprinkles

After Boba, egg tarts, and fruit yogurt ice cream, cupcakes have become the next popular dessert. Can you believe it, a cupcake for $3.25.

Julie recently picked up some cupcakes from Kara's and Sprinkles to have a cupcake showdown (picture the Rocky music in your head and little boxing gloves on these cupcakes) and the results are in:

Sprinkles: more cupcake for the money but sweeter frosting

Kara's: smaller cupcake but moist cupcake with less sweet frosting.

FYI: you can also get the Sprinkles mix and the cupcakes will cost a little over $1 per cupcake. The instruction calles for 4 cups of sugar... cut it down to 3 cups... it will be healthier for you ^_^

Happy Pumpkin Day!

Our celebration of the pumpkin day started few weeks ago with our giant pumpkin sighting on the freeway:This this was so big that some of the neighboring drivers started to pull out their cell phone to take a picture of this thing ( like us ^_^).

Then Eric and I started to worry about what to dress him up as for his company costume party. Since we bought Eric this nice hat at this year's SF Oktoberfest, we decided to use it for his costume this year.

We also Entered Eric's company's pumpkin carving contest this year too. After seeing our neighbor with an impressive Obama pumpkin, we were thinking of doing the same for Eric's company contest. But because it was too political we went with a more patriotic pumpkin instead.

BTW: we didn't win either of the contest -_-
