Chili pasta bake (pasta a la can)

Since we are so busy doing research in our free time (this week at least), we have decided to make pasta based on the recipe on the back of a tomata can, adjusted based on what we have in the fridge. Luckily it turned out well, since we have 11 more cans of S&W Organic Ready-Cut Diced Tomatoes (courtesy of Costco).

Tofu burger

Busy life = creative dinners ^_^

Since Eric and I both get home late from work, the George Foreman grill has become our best friend! You can grill anything and everything on it. Here is one of our new creations -- burger with tofu buns ^_^

Strange fog this morning

Strange fog rolled in on the first day back to work... it covered half of the Bay bridge.

Time to go back to work

Taiwan Feb 2008

A New Look

Before I left Taiwan, I got a hair cut... a really SHORT hair cut. Chopped off 11+ inches... It is kind of short but it is all for a good cause.

鹿港一日遊

Although pa always seemed very serious when we were growing up, he is very silly when he gets together with his classmates around new years. After pa's yearly lunch with his elemetry school classmates, he and a friend decided to visit another friend in 鹿港 for a day.

When we got there, we found out the friend is a principle of an elemetary school. Since there was no parking on the street, he opened the elemetary school gate and let us park in the school. This made us feel very special ^_^

Then pa and his friend decided to take turn siting at the principal's desk. Doesn't he look like the principal?

Pa and his friend even got on the track for a race.

After a delicious lunch hosted by pa's friend we took a quick walk around 鹿港and the old streets of 鹿港. Since everyone wants to go to the famous temple of 鹿港to make a new year's wish, the streets were extremly crowded. But Julie will never pass up the opportunity to have a good snack ^_^

The temples are first class historic sites with lots of details everywhere.

Finally, we ended our trip with a quick group shot of the three almost-60-years-young "boys".

New Year's Eve Dinner

It is always fun to be back with family on Chinese New Year. This year Julie's cousin brought her family after dinner to meet up with the rest of the family. We only got a picture of her younger son because the older one was too shy ^_^ Julie's other cousin showed off her new birds.

Eric got a hold of the family dog wearing a Chinese outfit ^_^

But the best part of Chinese New Year is... Red bag money! Although you are not suppose to get red bags after you get married... we still get them for good luck ^_^ We feel very loved.

HONK-HONK!! (Hong Kong)

Eric and I started our Chinese new year celebration with a quick trip to Hong Kong... and we realized if you say Hong Kong really fast, it sounds kinda like honk-honk, which our taxi drivers did a lot of on this trip.

Hong Kong airport was filled with Chinese new year's decorations and the shopping area was decorated with red and gold. Even McDonalds got in the spirit of the rat year (there's a curly fry in my rat). We purchased group tickets (group of two) for the airport express train to Kowloon. First order of business = dim sum ^_^Second order of business = shopping
Intermission = watched an old man wheel a propane tank in the fast lane of a boulevard.

Got beat up by Bruce Lee.

Almost joined a protest ^_^ but we were not sure what they were protesting. lots and lots of good food.

Finally, we took our flight to Taiwan to visit ma and pa.
