Interesting ads in the Paris subway

Eric and Julie have always loved the advertisements displayed in the Paris subway.

Here is one for the Star Wars fans.

This is why McDonald needs super-size ^_^

Ah... the lovely influence of Hollywood!
We even got to see a life version of Ratatouille...

Left Bank and Notre Dame

After a quick good-bye with the Lee family, Eric and Julie continued their adventure... off to Paris!

A brief ice cream stop in Montreal
From 2009.8.8. Paris

We arrived in Paris

(see the Eiffel Tower to the upper-right?! ^_^)

After a short nap, we were out the door ready to enjoy Paris. We walked along the Left bank enjoying the sights.

Watched a line of tour buses parked next to the sign that says "do not park here"

Saw a sign that says do not hold hands, but of course we had to:

Then we had some ice-cream before getting in line for dinner on Ile St-Louis. Last time we had given up after an hour of waiting, so we thoroughly enjoyed dinner.

And for dessert, more ice-cream before a trip to the top of Notre Dame.

Great views...

Even the gargoyles enjoy it...

...but definitely a lot of stairs for two jet-lagged travelers (felt almost like 10-stories of stairs... wait it was about that high).

After the rigorous exercise, we had to get a midnight snack before we go back to bed, right?! ^_^

Alice and Jason's wedding in DC

We started our exciting adventure of DC/Paris with a really really early flight on Sunday. So early that Eric agreed to get Julie a cup of hot cocoa at the airport to bribe her into waking up.

As our plane approached DC, Eric and Julie were both surprised that the plane (and the airport) is so close to the Pentagon.

Of course, the main purpose of our DC trip is to help the Lee family celebrate Alice and Jason's wedding. Even though we both have never met Jason, we liked him right away. Especially Eric, because they are both thrifty and dorky ^_^

(See Jason giving Eric the chopstick bunny ears!?)

Here are some pictures from the wedding rehearsal:

The Lee family always made Julie feel like she is a member of the family ^_^
(Julie made Jason's boutonniere. With the brown shirt, doesn't Jason look like the new sheriff in town?)

After the rehearsal dinner, Carol took the family out on a nice walk while the boys went out for some beer. Julie got a preview of the glass harpist's performance on the street.

The glass harpist was so good at the wedding the next day. Even though the wedding picture session between the ceremony and dinner went over a little, the musician stayed to entertain the guest until the wedding party returned... we all thought he might have been getting blisters from the 2 hours of performance *-*

The morning of the wedding, Julie got to join the girls when they were getting their hair and make-up done.

( Carol looks unhappy in this one huh?! ^_^... Julie needs to stop taking weird pictures)

Look at those lashes!! Honestly, Julie really liked this hair-do on Alice... too bad this was not the final do.

pretty girls all made up
Here are the beautiful shoes for Alice's big day!

And the beautiful flowers ^_^

The wedding was really touching too.

Julie was a live faucet from the beginning to the end ^_^ can you imaging if it is Carol's wedding?

They even had a traditional Korean bowing ceremony (simplified). Julie was so happy that Alice was able to find such a nice guy with such a welcoming family.

(a little cutie really wanted her picture taken...)

Before we left DC, Eric and Julie had to take their little tomato to see where it all started ^_^

Five years ago, in front of the great uniter, we got engaged on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

Five years later, we are here with our little one on the way... hopefully we will get to do this again.

Oh... missed the most important part... for some reason Julie didn't get a chance to take a picture of Carol's new man... He is a very nice guy and very helpful too. But before we left, Julie couldn't help but to let Paul know to take good care of Carol ^_^*

Navel gazing

With pregnancy comes a bigger belly. And a bigger belly means a shallower belly-button. Eric has caught Julie gazing at her navel several times in the last few months (continuing the trend that Julie is easily entertained, such as while waiting in line for L'As du Falafel in Paris ^_^). Like the tide-pools at low tide, the bottom of the belly-button slowly surfaces.

And for you doctors, the official term is "Omphaloskepsis."

Onesies mania

Eric will admit that Julie has been very restrained. He is sure that once we find out the gender of the baby Julie will go shopping crazy (Julie says: that means Eric will have to clear out his clothes to make room for the baby's). Up till now, the four winning onesies are:

(finally, a shirt fit for a champion)

Eric's promotion celebration

After 2.5+ years of hard work, Eric was promoted (on schedule). To celebrate this special occasion, Julie baked Eric a banana-peanut butter-chocolate chip-almond bread (not following any recipe of course ^_^).

Julie's thoughts were: Eric likes peanut butter banana sandwiches, so he must like this interesting combination.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), the bread completely deflated in the center by the time Eric got home...

We celebrated this big milestone with our interesting-looking banana bread anyways ^_^
