Chinese Turkey for Thanksgiving

Since we didn't want to risk another run to the emergency room while driving home for Thanksgiving, we decided to celebrate Thanksgiving with our friends in the Bay Area instead.

This was the first time any of us had tasted soy sauce turkey from 99 Ranch. Andrea ordered on Monday and picked it up on Thursday. She was shocked as to how big the turkey was... and we were only trying to feed four people ^_^ Here is a picture of the size of the turkey in relation to Mike:

It was very nice of Mike and Andrea to open up their new home for us to have this Thanksgiving away from home.


After dinner, Eric and Julie joked that if junior arrived tonight we would have to tell him that he was an after-thanksgiving special. We originally planned to wake up early for the black Friday sales... but I guess sleep was more important for us... we slept in instead ^_^

Sweet Pea ( or Edamame)

Julie spotted this cutie at dinner. Doesn't the edamame look like it's smiling? Eric ate it anyways...

A Pregnesia Moment

One of the side effect of pregnancy is probably pregnesia ^_^
Julie often forgets what she was saying in mid sentence and needs reminders as to what she was doing the moment before.

Today, while Eric and Julie went to check out a store, as they return back to their car... Eric witnessed Julie walked to the car parked next to theirs and try to open the passenger side door while a stranger was sitting in the driver side of the car. The driver was shocked that a pregnant lady was trying to break into his car... luckily the car door was locked ^_^

Julie was mortified... she seriously thought it was their car... sigh -_-

SF Fashion Feud

San Francisco is finally growing on us. There is always something fun happening in the city and Eric is always looking for free cheap fun events to take Julie.

This is round 3 of the SF Fashion Feud. Each designer gets 1 hour to come up with a clothing design with the fabric given. It was so exciting. It was a more experienced designer versus a less experienced designer ( she must have been a high school student or early college student). Julie was rooting for the underdog ^_^




Julie really liked the red outfit by the younger designer.

However, the green/brown dress won due to better workmanship.

Monster crib

Thanks to Julie's co-worker, junior got a really really nice crib ( or really really BIG crib). It was so big that it would not fit in our car. Eric was pretty excited because he finally got to use the hitch on his car to tow a trailer.

We tied the crib down on the trailer and even went on the freeway to bring the crib home.

Although the crib was able to fit through our front door, it was just 1-2in too big for the bedroom door ( even after the doors were removed). We ultimately had to take the crib's railing apart to move the crib in the room. Now it is going to stay in that room until we move ^_^

Junior's mini photoshoot

For fun, Eric and Julie did a 3D ultrasound of junior. Unfortunately, junior was sleeping the whole time. The technician tried to wake him up by giving Julie cold water to drink, sweets to eat, but junior was undisturbed. The more we shake him, the more he pushes his face into his hand.

Here is a weird shot of his cheek. They said the umbilical cord was pushed up against his cheek.

We are hoping that he will sleep as soundly when he arrives end of this year!

Someone special just turned 30!! part II - ER visit

For Eric's 30th birthday part II, Julie planned a "slightly out of this world " surprise for him. She contacted Mission Soaring Center and set up hang gliding lessons for Eric and friends ( news clip of hang gliding). Eric had no idea what we were doing, he just knew that we had to get up really early on Sunday, take camping chairs, cooler with lots of water, and buy lots of snack food and sandwiches for the day. He thought we were going to go watch the space shuttle landing and we needed to be there early for a good seat ^_^

When Eric stepped into the soaring center orientation class, he was pleasantly surprised ^_^Unfortunately, on the drive to Hollister Julie experienced some sharp pain on the lower right side of her stomach. At first she thought it was just a Braxton hicks contraction pain that should go away in 15-20 minutes, but it lasted 2 hours ( started when we just left San Francisco). When they got to San Jose, Eric knew something was wrong. He stop the car and called the midwife in San Francisco. They were instructed to go to the nearest hospital in fear of appendicitis.

When they were admitted to the Labor and Delivery department, the pain quickly escalated from a 2 out of 10 to a 7-8 out of 10. The pain was so strong that it started to trigger early contraction. Eric held on to Julie's hand while waiting for the doctor. After much testing and pain killer, the medical team still didn't know what was wrong. A surgent proposed to do an exploratory surgery and take out Julie's appendix with a high risk of pre-term delivery... that scared some cold sweat out of Julie -_-

Luckily, Julie was able to contact papa Yang and his OB friends who advised to wait and monitor over night. Julie got more pain medication before everything subsided overnight. (This didn't stop papa Yang and Mama Yang from worrying and calling every two hours to check on Julie and Eric ^_^)

Lots of IV was given over the 24+ hour period.

Julie can't wait for them to take the needle out when she felt all better the next morning!

When Julie stood up after 24+ hours, she can fianlly get a good view of the bed/chair Eric slept on the night before.


Sorry to all our friends who made a long trip out to Hollister to help celebrate Eric's birthday... and thanks to Mom and Dad for coming up to support us!!

Now we are all better ^_^ just waiting for junior's arrival at the end of the year ^_^
