Raining cats and dogs

If you've been watching the news, you would know that there have been a parade of winter storms coming through the Bay Area. It even knock out the power system at work on Friday.

I didn't get to go out much this weekend, but this is a great shot I got from our window (a break between the storms).

Rusty's good-bye!

Rusty was our family pet for 15+ years. Her actual age is debatable (we are not sure how old she was when she arrived... but she was at least 2-3 years old).

She was a mixed dog with a lot of personality. She guarded our front window as if she owns the street and she barked at no one except for the mailman.

I will never forget our first trick-or-treat together... and how she rubs her face when I blow in her ear. All dogs go to heaven... and I know I will see you there.

VOSH California, Mexico

This Christmas, Eric and I decided to do something different. Besides the usual gathering with family, we went down to Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico to participate in a vision screening co-sponsored by http://vosh-california.org/ and http://www.misioninmexico.com/.

We went down with a team of 13 optometrists, optometry students, and technicians. We were able to see 700+ patients in 3 days and prescribe 300+ pairs of glasses for our patients.

We were hosted by Mission in Mexico and we got to stay at an authentic rancho in Jerez. Here is Eric trying to start a fire so we can get some hot shower water. Before leaving for the airport, we got to tour the gold mine of Zacatecas.

SF Holiday party - Crab night

Before leaving for the holidays, Eric and I decided that it would be a great idea to invite our friends over for a small holiday party--SF style. We were so excited about the crab night but really were not thinking about how we are going to "prep" the crabs... and how to get rid of the smell afterwards... -_- Here is Eric and Sung splashing crab juice all over the kitchen...
Shirley trying to steal some sushi before dinner...
and a picture perfect evening with everyone's eyes open...

Trip to Egypt

In between jobs, Eric decided to take Julie on an adventrue to Egypt. Our Egypt experience was beyond our expectation ( even the temperature..i.e. 40C).

what comes after happily ever after...

So here is what happened after the fairy tale wedding and the around the world honeymoon...

Eric and Julie both returned to the world of LOTS OF WORK. Julie started a 1 year learning position in LA while Eric traveled between SF and LA to be supportive.

Life was tough during this year. We were both working 10+ hour days. But we manage to plan some fun trips in between all this real world madness.

In Jan of 2007, we manage to squeeze a snowboarding trip in Denver while Julie attend a conference.

In Feb of 2007, we visited Julie's family again in Taiwan for Chinese New Year...

In May of 2007, we escaped to Hawaii to celebrate our first wedding anniversary...

Finally on Sept of 2007, we concluded our tales of the two city adventure and moved to SF together.
